      <image:title>April - Alchemy of Secrets</image:title>
<image:caption>by Stephanie Garber What if the urban legends you've always heard about were real? It starts with a class in an old movie theater. Folklore 517: Local Legends and Urban Myths, taught by a woman called the Professor. Most students believe the Professor’s stories are just fiction, but Holland St. James has always been convinced that magic is real. When she tracks down a local legend named the Watch Man, who can supposedly tell you when you’ll die, the world finally makes sense. Except that the Watch Man tells her she will die at midnight tomorrow unless she finds an ancient object called the Alchemical Heart. With the clock ticking, Holland is pulled deeper into this magical world in the heart of Los Angeles—and into the path of a magnetic stranger. Everything about him feels like a bad idea, but he promises Holland that her sister sent him to protect her. As they chase clues and stories that take them closer to the Alchemical Heart, Holland realizes everyone in this intoxicating new world is lying to her, even this stranger. And if she can’t figure out whom to trust, not even the Alchemical Heart will save her.</image:caption>

      <image:title>May - An Inheritance of Magic</image:title>
<image:caption>by Benedict Jacka The super-rich control everything—including magic—in this thrilling and brilliant, contemporary fantasy from the author of the Alex Verus novels. The wealthy seem to exist in a different, glittering world from the rest of us. Almost as if by . . . magic. Stephen Oakwood is a young man on the edge of this hidden world. He has talent and potential, but turning that potential into magical power takes money, opportunity, and training. All Stephen has is a minimum wage job and a cat. But when a chance encounter with a member of House Ashford gets him noticed by the wrong people, Stephen is thrown in the deep end. For centuries, the vast corporations and aristocratic Houses of the magical world have grown impossibly rich and influential by hoarding their knowledge. To survive, Stephen will have to take his talent and build it up into something greater—for only then can he beat them at their own game.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Hyperestis is the solo musical project of Gabrielle Emerson. She combines guitars and electronics with her unique plaintive voice to create music that is modern, yet reminiscent of the Dark Wave sound found in the 80’s and 90’s. Her first EP, A Void, was released in the summer of 2023 with a second EP, O Diva, being released the following year. The trilogy was completed in 2025 with the EP, Id Ova. A fourth EP is in the works, with an expected release date sometime in 2026. Hyperestis has contributed to the Paraluna Records trans charity compilation Transversal, Darkness Calling’s Gothflesh, and At Sea Compilations La Danse Macabre 16. She was also a featured on the Stabbed By Prongs album Static Skin, writing lyrics and singing on the track Pyromancer. Gabi is a queer, transgender woman. She played in various Goth, Industrial, Synth-Pop, and Rock bands before taking a many years long hiatus. She began her solo project, Hyperestis, in 2021. Currently, she is focused on creating digital music and is not playing live shows. Hyperestis is unsigned at the moment.</image:caption>
